The Convicts theatre group is heading abroad. Between 20 and 24 August, during Gamescom 2025, they will perform one of the scenes from the play Welcome to the Colony and a new sketch – Scatty’s Training – in English at the Alkimia stand.
The adaptation of the Gothic world to the theatre stage is unique in the fandom, and probably the only one among all the countries where we can find fans of the game. It has been appreciated by the developers of Gothic Remake, which will allow us to show abroad how much Poles love Gothic.
The Spectacle in Poland
We already had the opportunity to see The Convicts during the premiere of their performance entitled Welcome to the Colony in Wrocław, which took place on 31 May 2025. The main theme of the performance is the inter-camp deliberations conducted by their representatives. These days, the Shadows from the Old Camp are more ruthless and malicious, the Rogues from the New Camp are more cynical, and the members of the Brotherhood show more fanatical faith. The colony is already divided between factions, but the balance of power has not yet been established.
The quality of the work and the subject matter were recognised by Wrocławski Teatr Współczesny, which resulted in an offer to stage the performance again, this time on the theatre stage. The performance will take place on 31 August 2025, and tickets sold out in three hours. If you didn’t have the opportunity to see The Convicts on stage, don’t lose hope! The play Welcome to the Colony will certainly be staged again.
The natural environment for the actors, given the costumes they wear, is Gothic Larp, which this year will be preceded by a sketch entitled Guard’s Stew. The title rightly suggests events related to the search for mushrooms for the camp cook. We will see this sketch on 19 August 2025 at Gothic Larp in Poland.
As we can see, August has brought The Convicts three opportunities to perform in front of an audience. If you are going to Gamescom, have managed to get a ticket to the Wrocławski Teatr Współczesny, or are going to Gothic Larp, you will have the opportunity to see them live.
